A is for Alexandra

The Gladiator Chronicles are my first attempt at a series. And my first book in the series is GLADIATOR. The book is set in the not to distant future in which the world has plunged itself into chaos and darkness and a devious Queen has placed herself into the vacuum of leadership. The world's only hope? A jaded and disillusioned enslaved gladiator and the Queen's sister Alexandra, who may or may not be the much prophecized about Healer.

Alexandra was a gentle character when I originally conceived her but she had to have an inner strength. A spine of steel. But the Gladiator was so disillusioned she had to be soft with a dash of boot in your behind to deal with him.

I enjoyed writing Alexandra, she had the power to create and destroy, a great capacity to love, and a willingness to face her destiny, no matter what that might mean. Her relationship with the Gladiator was a great deal of fun to write and getting to revisit it a little bit in the second book is a bit of a guilty pleasure.

Alex had been through a lot, but then, so had the gladiator when they met so they were something of a perfect match. And Alexandra may be beautiful but so is her sister, it comes down to what kind of heart she has and Alexandra's heart has the capacity to love in a way that is foreign to her sister the Queen.

Currently I am holding a contest on the series website. http://thegladiatorchronicles.webs.com Go to the forum, answer the questions and win a chance at all three of my books, including an advance copy of GLADIATOR.

Hi, checking out your blog for the A-Z Challenge. Sounds like an interesting series. I don't recall there being lots of books series when I was a young reader, why is that a common thing now? Is it just a sale thing or is there a specific reason they have gotten big?! Hmmm...

This is post apocalyptic erotic romance, but I think Publishers are always looking for ways to make money and with Harry Potter I think it was just a matter of time.
