Basketball, Besties, and Book Reviews

To cap off this week I'd like to talk about somethings closest to my heart: Basketball, Best friends, & Book Reviews and not necessarily in that that order.

As you've noticed since Wednesday I've been introducing you to my friends who are fellow writers and are worth knowing because not are they only good at what they do, but are just good people. And in keeping with the bloghop them I'm going to end the week with talking about my best friend and screenwriting and indie filmmaking partner in crime Melissa Goodman.

We met 14 years ago while working at B. Dalton Booksellers in the Jefferson Mall. She taught me how to be disciplined in my writing. She always wanted to read something of mine so I always had to have something new for her to read. She would always share her work verbally with me. But the moment we truly bonded was when we saw that we each had magazine picture of  'Jax' from General Hospital as our inspiration for one of our heroes.

Yes, I watch Daytime Drama and I am not ashamed to admit it. Then one day she came to me and asked me if I wanted to write a romance series together. I snobbily said for the money. If only I'd had any respect for the genre at the time I would have realized you have to respect the medium before you even write the medium then I might have known it was going to take me a while to find my voice LOL.

Now she is working on a book of her own and she is a great writer in her own right. We are award winning short screenplay writers and have weathered the best and worst of situations when it comes making movies. But she has decided to set up her own blog in which she hosts writers, interviews them, and reviews their books. So if you want to gain any exposure on her new blog http://sweetreads-mgoodman.blogspot.com/ is where to go or find her at her email at melissagoodman@insightbb.com.

Missy and I have been through the fire together, everything from bonding over past abuse, bipolar breaksdowns (mine) to starving in Texas, (we lived on hot dogs and spaghetti). But in the end we came out stronger for it.

And now let's keep in mind Kentucky fans, Blueston is in full effect, and Wildcats everywhere need to be rockin' their support as we're playing the Huskies and Kemba Walker today. Let's continue the Payback Tour tonight and live to play another day!

Happy Scribbles!

I am in awe of you and your friends. I have wanted to write since I was 16. Now, my alter-ego Mariella Morgan takes care of that. (I edit what she writes.) Never in my life did I think that one day that dream would introduce me to a successful writer and film maker and her equally sucessful friends.. Wow!
